Melanocytes, the cells responsible for pigment, are easily triggered by the sun, heat, or trauma. These cells can become overactive, creating spots or patches of discolouration over time that are difficult to remove. The melanin pigments tend to reappear under sun exposure and hormonal imbalance, making it challenging to achieve long-term control of this condition.
